At the end of 2020, Md. Mosharof Hosen first took the initiative and held a meeting to implement the cemetery. In that meeting, people were able to understand the need for the cemetery. As a result, a large support was created by the people. And gradually he continued to try to bring together more important people in the society. At this stage, he was able to coordinate all types of people in the society. As a result, the villagers got a large cemetery. Dr. Md. Mosharof Hosen is still working tirelessly for the development of the cemetery. It was very challenging to implement such an establishment collectively, due to which it is now a place of pride for the villagers.

Key Milestones in the Project

Initial Discussion Meeting

In order to establish the cemetery, a discussion meeting was arranged in December 2020 under the direction of Md. Mosharof Hosen. This meeting held in the ATS office room. Understanding the need in the cemetery, the initiative created a mass awakening among people. As there was no cemetery in the large village, everyone realized the need and became interested.

Building Community Support

All of the villagers gradually showed their support for one another and a second discussion getting was arranged up.

Largest Gathering & Fund Pledge

At a particular moment, all the people of the village united, and a final discussion meeting was organized for the implementation of the cemetery. One lakh BDT was withdrawn in cash at the discussion meeting and many people promised to pay. Others promise to pay a certain amount for the land. This is how the initial stage activities begin.

Site Selection

Five possible places recommended by everyone in different parts of the village are visited. The places were people's private places, not public or abandoned places. Considering the overall issue, the place of the center is determined.

Land Negotiation

Since we determine people's personal space, we negotiate with the landowner to exchange money. The owner agreed to sell the land, thinking about the public. Then we got down to fundraising.

Donor Mobilization

We divide the entire village into nine areas and go to each area and hold meetings with all people in that area. In the said meeting, I prepared a list of their names. At the same time, write down the amount of money promised for the implementation of the cemetery. Then the list of names of donors of nine areas was finalized after a long time.

Fund Collection & Land Purchase

According to the list of donors, we collect the promised money by going door-to-door. The total number of donors in village is more than 1200 people. The amount of money promised to them stands at around 40 lakh BDT (34,000 USD). In the initial phase, we were able to withdraw 8 lakh BDT from all the villager. With this money, we purchase 0.3 acre of the land in the initial stage. By withdrawing all the money in phases, we purchase another 1.00 acre of the land.

Land Registration & Waqf Dedication

The land was legally registered in the names of five trusted community leaders—including Dr. Hosen—and declared as waqf. Later purchases were similarly waqfed in the names of 40 local representatives.

Cemetery Establishment & Community Use

Now spanning 1.3 acres, the cemetery officially began its journey in 2021 with the burial of a 10-year-old child. As of today, more than 100 people have been laid to rest there, offering dignity and peace to families during their most difficult times.

Transparency & Accountability

In order to protect the transparency of the organization, we organize a large discussion meeting to reveal the collected funds to the public. All the income and expenses are disclosed in the meeting. In this way, a large institution of our village is visible through long hard work. This institution is an institution of pride for our villagers.
